About HVAC service in Pasadena

Short answer

Airwork serves Pasadena with AC repair and replacement, furnaces, heat pumps, ductless mini-splits and maintenance, by technicians licensed under CSLB #1148919. Pasadena is 9.7 miles from our Burbank base, inside the fast zone: typical arrival is 70 to 100 minutes for same-day calls.

About Pasadena homes

Pasadena has some of the oldest housing in our service area, from Craftsman bungalows in Bungalow Heaven to 1920s revival homes in Madison Heights. Many were never designed for central air, so we often route ducts through tight attics or recommend ductless units that leave original plaster and woodwork alone. Pasadena Water and Power runs its own heat pump rebate with a 180-day filing window.

Pasadena's housing is older than most of its neighbors'. Craftsman bungalows fill Bungalow Heaven and much of the northwest. Madison Heights has large 1910s and 1920s houses in Craftsman and revival styles. Linda Vista climbs the hills above the Arroyo Seco, and Hastings Ranch on the east side is mostly 1950s ranch homes. Old Pasadena and the Playhouse district add condos and apartments.

Original heat in the older houses was a gravity furnace or a floor furnace. Some still have one, or a later forced-air furnace in a basement or crawl space. Raised foundations help, because ducts can run below the floor without opening plaster walls. Attics are often shallow and hot, which is a poor place for ducts. In the ranch homes, the weak spot is usually an original duct system that leaks into the attic.

Our approach starts with what the house already has. Crawl-space ducts get sealed and insulated, basement furnaces give way to efficient units or heat pumps, and rooms the ducts cannot reach get a small ductless head. Wood floors and plaster stay untouched wherever possible.

We work across Pasadena, including Bungalow Heaven, Madison Heights, Linda Vista, Hastings Ranch, Old Pasadena.

5-minute check

Before you call: AC blowing warm air?

  1. Thermostat on Cool Set it a few degrees below room temperature, and replace its batteries if the screen is faint.
  2. Swap a dirty filter A gray, clogged filter starves airflow and can freeze the indoor coil.
  3. Reset the breaker once If the AC breaker trips again, leave it off and call us.
