Where a mini-split works best

Older homes without ducts

Many LA houses from the 1920s to 1950s were built with a wall furnace and no ducts. Mini-splits add cooling without opening plaster walls.

How it works

How mini-split installation works

  1. Same or next day

    In-home quote

We measure the house and run a Manual J load calculation instead of copying the old unit's size.

  2. In writing

    Fixed price

Two or three options with the price, utility rebate and financing spelled out.

  3. 1-2 days

    Permit and install

We pull the permit, protect your floors, install the system and haul the old one away.

  4. After install

    Test and rebate

HERS test and city inspection passed, and the rebate paperwork filed for you.

FAQ

Mini-splits: answers from our techs

Something else on your mind? Call (818) 351-1443 and a real person picks up.

Is the in-home estimate free?

Yes. A replacement estimate is free: we measure the house, run a Manual J load calculation and give you a fixed written price with any utility rebate spelled out.

Which brands do you install?

All major brands, including Carrier, Trane, Lennox, Rheem, Goodman, Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric and Fujitsu. We recommend equipment by your home's load calculation, budget and rebate rules, and quote two or three options in writing.

Are mini-splits cheaper to run than central air?

Usually yes: there are no duct losses and you only condition the rooms you use. Inverter compressors also slow down instead of cycling on and off.

How many zones do I need?

It depends on the layout; open living areas can share one head, bedrooms usually need their own. We size each zone with a room-by-room calculation.

Do mini-splits qualify for rebates?

Yes. They are heat pumps, so LADWP, Burbank Water and Power and Glendale Water and Power programs cover them. We check eligibility first.

Can a mini-split heat my home?

Yes. They heat efficiently in LA winters and can replace a wall furnace completely.

About ductless mini-splits in Burbank and Los Angeles

Short answer

A ductless mini-split is a heat pump with an outdoor unit and one or more wall, ceiling or floor units, connected by a small refrigerant line instead of ducts. Airwork installs single-zone systems from $4,200 and multi-zone systems for whole homes; because they are heat pumps, they qualify for LADWP, BWP and GWP rebates.
