Partly. A MERV 13 filter catches most fine smoke particles if air actually passes through it, so the system must handle the extra resistance and the filter frame must be sealed.
We focus on filtration and duct sealing, which have the strongest evidence. We do not install devices that produce ozone.
Every two to three months for 1-inch filters, and every six to twelve months for deeper media filters, sooner during fire season.
For wildfire smoke, the EPA recommends a filter rated MERV 13 or higher if your HVAC system can handle it. Many LA systems cannot take a thin MERV 13 filter without losing airflow, so Airwork installs deeper media filter cabinets, seals leaky return ducts that pull in attic dust, and sets the fan to circulate on smoke days.
